How long will it take?
Your dog will never be kept with me any longer than necessary. I will often take a contact number and text or call you when your dog is ready. Grooming time varies between 2 - 4 hours dependant on breed, coat type & condition.
Will my dog get a break?
Yes, there is a small garden area enabling your dog toileting breaks throughout the groom & fresh water is always available.
Will there be any other dogs?
No!
At hair of the dog the one to one grooming is exactly what it says it is! I can guarantee that there will only ever be your dog in the grooming studio for your appointment from the time you arrive until the time your dog leaves, there is no cross over period. This alleviates any extra stress caused by interaction with other dogs. A true one to one service!
Can I stay?
Yes, i have no concerns with owners requesting to stay if they are bringing a puppy or a nervous dog, it can be quite daunting leaving your dog for the first time and a bad previous grooming experience can also affect your confidence when leaving your dog.
Nevertheless the following are all positive reasons to leave your dog with me
Dogs are often a lot better behaved when their owners are not visible
Only one to one communication between me and your dog
Your dog will build a relationship, trust & understanding with me
Helps with separation anxiety issues
Lets your dog become accustomed to a regular grooming routine
I am always honest with my customers so in the unlikely event that your dog becomes too stressed
during grooming i wouldn't hesitate to contact you.
I feel after yours and your dogs first visit to Professional Dog Grooming you will feel
confident and assured to leave your dog with me.
What will my dog do whilst they are waiting to be collected?
There is a selection of toys & treats to keep your dog amused whilst waiting to be collected. As there is no other dogs they will get all my attention and lots of cuddles. Fresh water is always available, as is the outdoor area.
Do I need to groom my dog at home in between visiting you?
Brushing for some breeds in between visits is essential to keep the coat in good condition so to achieve the look you want. If you need any guidance on whether to or how to brush your dog at home or the best brush to use please ask. I give a free booklet to customers with more information on brushing at home and how to prevent matting. I also offer a 30 minute brushing tutorial for customers on request for £5 which advises on techniques, how to hold your dog and make brushing fun!
What type of cut can my dog have?
On consultation I will go through with you exactly how you want your dog to look. If you have any photos which can give me a better idea of the look you require please feel free to bring them along. If you aren't sure of the cut options available to your dog I can advise what will suit them. The achievable look will always depend on coat type and condition.
